October 13, 2006: Twins 5 Rangers 0 (Twins lead series, 3-0)
Friday, November 23, 2007
| For the 2nd straight year, my replay American League Champion Series features...a NO HITTER! Johan Santana does the trick this time, beating the Rangers by a 5-0 score. Last year it was Freddy Garcia of the White Sox, who no-hit the Yankees to clinch the ALCS. The only playoff no-hitter in real life history is Don Larsen's 1956 perfect game. The Twins got all their runs in the first off 4 singles and 2 walks. All 5 runs get charged to Rangers starter Vicente Padilla, who was pulled after those 4 singles and 2 walks. The Rangers bullpen did a good job keeping the Twins bats at bay for the rest of the game, but it didn't matter because of Santana's dominant feat. The Rangers will try to jump start a valiant series comeback with game 4 starter Adam Eaton, who will oppose Carlos Silva of the Twins. |

Johan Santana(2-1) was on top of his game in Minnesota as he tossed a beauty
of a no-hitter against the Texas Rangers. The Minnesota Twins won by a score
of 5 to 0.
Santana was cheered on with every out from the 7th inning onward. The
adrenaline had to be just pumping through his veins. The atmosphere was
electric out there in Metrodome tonight! He walked 2 Texas batters. What an
evening for the fans. They were on the edge of their seats from the 7th
inning on. With every out, the electricity in the air mounted. After the
1st inning, neither team was able to score.
Vicente Padilla(2-1) was charged with the loss. 'You probably have a better
chance of winning the lottery than this happening,' said Santana, 'I don't
expect it to sink in for awhile,' he said. 'I'm numb right now, I'm
overwhelmed.'
