August 21, 2006: Yankees 8 Red Sox 3
Thursday, September 06, 2007
| The Yankees take the 5th and final game of this pivotal August series, taking advantage of a mediocre performance by David Wells as well as sloppy play by the Red Sox in the field. Red Sox errors led to Yankee runs in the 1st, 2nd, and 9th innings. Still, the Red Sox can claim a series win and now sit just 2.5 games back of the Yankees in the AL East race. The Red Sox also hold a slim half game lead in the wild card race over the recently slumping Minnesota Twins. |
