August 17, 2006: Nationals 4 Braves 3

The Nationals are making a habit out of late inning comebacks! This time, they load the bases in the 8th for Nick Johnson, who knocks one out of the park for the grand slam and turns a 3-0 deficit into a 4-3 lead. Enter Chad Cordero, who struggles but manages to get the save. Here's the play account from the Nats 8th and Braves 9th to show how it all went down.

WEB GEMS- Top 4th: Bernie Castro robbed Adam Laroche of a base hit.

One run was the difference at RFK STADIUM as the Washington Nationals defeated
the Atlanta Braves 4 to 3.

Chris Schroder(1-0) was solid in relief, and he got credit for the win. He
surrendered no hits and 1 walk in 1 inning lowering his ERA from 4.91 to
3.86. Atlanta threatened in the 9th but Washington was able to put down the
rally.

Schroder got relief help from Chad Cordero who gained credit for his 26th
save. Chad Paronto(1-2) took the loss in relief. He gave up 2 runs and 2
hits in 2/3 of an inning.

'We didn't get the key hits when we needed them' Bobby Cox said. 'We did what
we could, we just didn't pull out the win. What can you say?'
