| The Red Sox are now 3-3 on their west coast swing after a 4-0 loss to the Mariners in which the offense was practically non-existent. In just his 2nd start of the season, Cha Seung Baek stymied the Sox bats, allowing just 2 hits over 8 innings. Recent callup Dustin Pedroia had both hits for the Sox. |

Cha Seung Baek pitched 8 strong innings and Richie Sexson slammed a homerun as
the Seattle Mariners defeated the Boston Red Sox by a score of 4 to 0 at
SAFECO Field.
In the 6th inning Seattle scored 3 runs when they had 3 base hits. The
highlight belonged to Raul Ibanez who elicited a roar from the hometown fans
when he smashed a two-run homer (his 22nd of the season). Boston was out-hit
by Seattle, 12 hits to 2.
Baek(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing no runs.
Kyle Snyder(1-4) was given the loss. With this win, Seattle has a 56-74
record. They have been 4-6 lately. With the loss, Boston has a record of
5-5 lately, 77-53 overall.
