August 26, 2006: Mariners 5 Red Sox 4 (11)
Saturday, September 15, 2007
| The Sox go down in 11 as the Mariners push the winning run across on a potential double play where the throw didn't get to first in time. Julian Tavarez issued a leadoff walk to TJ Bohn, who was advanced to 2nd on an Ichiro bunt. Jose Lopez singled to move Bohn to 3rd. (Lopez had hit a 2 run homer off David Wells ealier in the game.) Adrian Beltre then grounded back to Tavarez, who got the throw to 2nd to get Lopez for the 2nd out, but the throw to 1st doesn't get there in time and Bohn crosses the plate with the winning run. The Yankees also lost so the Red Sox stay 2.5 games back, but the Twins won their 5th straight which puts the Sox 1.5 back in the wild card race. |
