April 20, 2006: Red Sox 13 Devil Rays 3
Saturday, March 24, 2007
| The Red Sox get another dominating performance from Tim Wakefield and beat up on Scott Kazmir in a laugher over the Devil Rays. The Sox spread the offense around again as 5 different players had 3 hits in the game. Surprisingly, neither David Ortiz nor Manny Ramirez were one of the 3 hit players. Ortiz had a downright odd line in the box score: 4 AB, 1 R, 0 H, 2 RBI. Ortiz didn't walk in the game, so how does one score a run and knock two in without a hit or walk? The run was scored after Ortiz reached base on a 2-base error by Devil Rays right fielder Russell Branyan, while the 2 RBI were on a sac fly and a ground out with a runner on 3rd. Although Wake did allow a 2 run homer to Branyan, he keeps his ERA below 1.00 at 0.84. He only allowed 2 hits in the game, which brings his season total to just 12 hits allowed in 31 IP. |
