September 21, 2006: Twins 4 Red Sox 0
Saturday, October 27, 2007
| The Red Sox get shut down by Johan Santana, who earns his 21st win of the season in a 4-0 shutout. He gets relief help from Joe Nathan who earns his 47th save. Santana, Nathan, and AL batting leader Joe Mauer are a lot of the reason why the Twins are leading the AL wild card race by 3 games over the Blue Jays. The Red Sox are now 5.5 games back after getting swept in this series. In the NL, all 4 playoff teams are set. The Mets and Padres won and the Rockies lost, meaning the Padres win the NL West and the Mets and Phillies both clinch playoff spots. The Phillies are one game back of the Mets in the NL East. In the AL, the Yankees are on the verge of clinching the East with a magic number of 3. The Twins are 3.5 back of the Tigers in the Central, while the Rangers are just a half game back of the A's in the west. |
