August 11, 2006: Nationals 6 Mets 4
Saturday, August 25, 2007
| Billy Traber gets the call from AAA New Orleans to take the traded Livan Hernandez' turn in the rotation, and he does something that Hernandez hadn't done in over a month - he wins the game! This was the game of 2-run homers by 'guys whose first names start with A' for the Nats, as Austin Kearns, Alex Escobar, and Alfonso Soriano all connected in different innings with a runner on ahead of them. Oh and what of Livan Hernandez, now a Diamondback? He won in his first start for Arizona, allowing 4 earned runs over 7 2/3. |

In a tight game it was the Washington Nationals 6, the New York (NL) Mets 4 at
RFK STADIUM.
Washington took the lead for good in the bottom of the 2nd inning scoring 2
runners on 1 hit. The critical plate appearance was by Austin Kearns who
came through for the home fans when he cleared the fences for a two-run home
run (his 25th of the season). New York (NL) threatened in the 9th but their
rally came up short.
The victory was credited to Billy Traber(2-1) who went 6 innings, allowing 2
runs. Tom Glavine(14-4) was the losing pitcher. He served up 3 gopher balls
in 6 innings.
