April 23, 2006: Red Sox 13 Blue Jays 7

| This game is a perfect illustration of the fallacy of W-L record as a measure of comparing pitchers. There's no way that Vag deserves a win in this game, yet he gets one. (Side note: in the real 2006 season, Matt Clement would get unexplained injuries that ended up being a case of dead arm. He is still uncertain for the 2007 season, even though the Sox will pay him $9.5M in 2007. As a result, I started making jokes about how he couldn't pitch because he had a sore vagina. and thus, the nickname of "Vag" was born. Since he's decided to suck in my SOM replay, the Vag nickname will live on) The Sox got 4 right away in this one off Blue Jays starter Josh Towers, who was wisely pulled early to stop the bleeding. The Blue Jays clawed back and took the lead in the 4th, which the Red Sox would tie in the 6th when Manny Ramirez led off the inning with a solo home run. 9 batters later, Ramirez was up again with only one out and the Red Sox had a 4 run lead. The big hit in the inning belongs to Alex Gonzalez, who hit a bases loaded double that would score the winning runner. |
