April 23, 2006: Nationals 5 Braves 4 (12)
Saturday, March 31, 2007
| The Nationals are actually starting to play like the 2005 version of the Nationals, hitting the ball with at least some regularity and getting good pitching. T After allowing 3 runs in the early innings, the Nationals crawl back into it with 3 in the 4th. The Braves got a runner to 3rd in the 8th when Martin Prado singled up the middle and Nats pitcher Mike Stanton mishandled the ball. The Braves went to pinch hitter Edgar Renteria, while I went with Gary Majewski out of the bullpen. Renteria singled to score the go-ahead run and I thought the Nats might be all done. With 2 outs in the 9th, Nick Johnson comes through with the lumber and puts one in the seats to tie the game. Majewski and Chad Cordero shut down the Braves in extra frames, and Jose Vidro gets into the longball game as well with a walk-off homer to lead off the 12th. The Nats sit in 4th place, one game behind the Braves but 6 games behind the division leading Mets. |
