First baseman Mike Jacobs slammed a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Florida
Marlins topped the Washington Nationals by a score of 12 to 4 at RFK
STADIUM.

Jacobs provided much of the offense. He doubled which scored a run in the 1st
inning, ripped a base-knock in the 4th inning and smashed a bases-empty
'big-fly' (his 11th of the season) in the 6th inning. Florida had 18 hits
overall, while Washington had 11.

Ricky Nolasco(6-5) picked up the victory, allowing 4 runs in 7 innings. Pedro
Astacio(0-1) took the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 7 runs
in 5 innings.
