June 29, 2006: Mets 2 Red Sox 0

| The Red Sox got only 3 hits in this one, but still almost pulled off a 9th inning comeback. Unfortunately, pinch hitter Trot Nixon could only manage a popup with the bases loaded. Curt Schilling pitched well enough to win, and Papelbon worked the 9th only because he hadn't pitched in 6 days. and no, I can't for the life of me figure out why the Mets manager pulled Glavine after 5. |

Tom Glavine(10-2) and Curt Schilling(7-8) treated the Boston fans to a fine
pitching duel at Fenway Park. The New York (NL) Mets eventually emerged as
victors over the Boston Red Sox by the score of 2 to 0.
New York (NL) went ahead for good in the 3rd inning plating an isolated run
using 2 hits. That was all the runs Glavine needed. After the 4th inning,
neither team was able to score.
Duaner Sanchez was credited with his 5th save.
