July 29, 2006: Nationals 13 Dodgers 3

I shuffled the lineup a bit for this game, it certainly seems to have worked out! Although I suspect that having 2 different guys go 4 for 5 would have worked no matter where they were in the lineup. Ryan Zimmerman has struggled in the 3rd spot in the lineup, so I dropped him to 5th and he went 4 for 5 with a triple and 3 runs scored. Felipe Lopez has been tremendous at getting on base, so I promoted him from 2nd to leadoff and he goes 2 for 3 with 2 steals and 2 runs scored. Lopez also executed a successful squeeze play, as did pitcher Mike O'Connor.

The Nationals continue their recent success at stealing bases with 6 steals today. Also of note is the excellent bullpen performance, with 2 innings each out of Saul Rivera and Jon Rauch.

Schneider provided much of the offense. He laced a one-base hit plating a run
in the 2nd inning, stroked a base-hit which scored a run in the 6th inning,
smacked a single bringing in a run in the 7th inning and popped a two-run
clout over the fence (his 3rd of the season) in the 9th inning. Washington
had many opportunities throughout the game and scored in 6 separate innings.

Mike O'Connor(6-4) got the win allowing 3 runs in 5 innings. Derek Lowe(6-6)
was the losing pitcher. He was knocked around, surrendering 7 runs in 5
innings.
