October 3, 2006: Rangers 9 Tigers 1 (Rangers lead series, 1-0)
Saturday, November 10, 2007
| The Rangers play their third day in a row in a different city (Seattle, Oakland, Detroit) but it doesn't keep them from putting a beating on the Tigers in the opener of their ALDS series. The offense was led by Michael Young (3 for 4, 3 2B) and Mark Teixeira (4 for 5, 1 2B, 2 HR, 5 RBI). The Rangers took a 2-0 lead in the first on a Teixeira homer, then got 4 in the 5th when Young and Teixiera both hit doubles and were followed by homers from Carlos Lee and Mark DeRosa. The Rangers would add 3 more in the 6th, again powered by Young (RBI double) and Teixiera (2-run homer). Rangers starter Vicente Padilla contributed 7 shutout innings, especially impressive since it was on 3 days rest. Kevin Millwood will also go on 3 days rest in game 2 against Justin Verlander of the Tigers. |

First baseman Mark Teixeira blasted 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Texas
Rangers topped the Detroit Tigers by a score of 9 to 1 at Comerica
Park.
Teixeira had a great day at the plate. He blasted a two-run home run in the
1st inning, doubled scoring a run in the 5th inning, bombed a two-run dinger
(his 2nd of the season) in the 6th inning and stroked a base-hit in the 8th
inning. Texas had 15 hits for the game and Detroit had 9.
Vicente Padilla(1-0) got the win allowing no runs in 7 innings. The losing
pitcher was Nate Robertson(0-1). 'I had a big day, but there's a lot of
credit to go around' Teixeira said. 'We played well together as a team.'
