September 8, 2006: Rockies 9 Nationals 8
Monday, October 08, 2007
| I thought the Nationals had this one when they went into the bottom of the 8th with an 8-5 lead. Instead, Jon Rauch allows a 3-run homer to Garrett Atkins to tie the game, and Chad Cordero allows the Rockies to reach base, the runner advances on a Nick Johnson error, and Jamey Carroll gets an infield hit to win the game. |

WEB GEMS- Top 8th: Chris Iannetta blocked the plate, saving a run!
Colorado Rockies broke the deadlock in their last at bats, pulling out a 9 to
8 win over the Washington Nationals and sending their hometown fans home
smiling.
The game was decided in the 9th inning. Ryan Spilborghs drew a walk. Chris
Iannetta next to the plate and he laced a base-knock, and an error was also
committed. Two outs later Jamey Carroll came up and he lined a base-hit
resulting in a mighty exciting win for Colorado and the 35,766 home town fans
in attendance. Colorado simply wore out the Washington pitching staff,
scoring in 6 different innings.
Jose Mesa(8-6) went 1/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the victory. Chad
Cordero(5-5) suffered the loss in relief. He surrendered 1 run and 2 hits in
2/3 of an inning.
