September 11, 2006: Nationals 9 Diamondbacks 2

This one looked like it was going to be close, but then the Nationals exploded for 6 runs in the 8th and walked away with the 9-2 win. Billy Traber goes 5 innings for the win and was helped by Ryan Zimmerman, who had a big 4 for 5 day including a solo homer in the 4th.

Something somewhat unique happened in the Nats 8th - they batted around but without anyone coming up twice. Brian Schneider started the inning off with a single, but I pinch ran for him with Bernie Castro. Castro would end up making the final out of the inning as a batter, meaning 10 different Nationals batted in the inning.

Ryan Zimmerman had 4 hits and 3 RBI at Chase Field as the Washington Nationals
beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 9 to 2.

Zimmerman was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he
provided much of the offense for the visitors. He singled in the 1st inning,
lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' (his 20th of the season) in the 4th inning,
laced a one-base hit which plated a run in the 7th inning and delivered a
base-hit bringing in a run in the 8th inning. Washington finished with 15
hits while Arizona ended up with 5.

The victory went to Billy Traber(4-2) who went 5 innings, allowing 1 run. The
losing pitcher was Claudio Vargas(5-7). The Washington ballclub's record now
stands at 73-71. With the loss Arizona now has a record of 64-80, worst in
the division.
