August 2, 2006: Giants 9 Nationals 4
Sunday, August 05, 2007
| This was a weird one. The Giants score 9 runs on only 6 hits...normally this would mean a high walk total for the opposing staff, but the Nationals only walked 3 batters. The Giants were simply efficient, leaving just one runner on base in the entire game (Moises Alou, left at 2nd in the 6th after doubling in 2 runs). After 5 complete, both teams had 2 runs on one hit and had committed 1 error. In fact, if you add up the run and hit totals for both teams, runs exceed hits. The goat for the Nationals is Jon Rauch, who ends up being charged with 5 runs in just 1/3 of an inning. He entered in the 8th right after the Nats had come back to tie the game, and had allowed 2 walks (one intentional), 2 doubles, and a 3 run homer before being pulled. |
