August 13, 2006: Red Sox 13 Orioles 4

The Red Sox break out of their offensive doldrums in a BIG way with a 13-4 victory over the Orioles to salvage one game of their 3 game series. Although they won by 9 runs, the victory wasn't easy as the Sox did not have the lead until the 7th. The O's came out swinging against Jon Lester and had 4 runs on the board in the first inning, which would end up being the only runs they scored. Manny was the star of the day for the Sox, hitting a 3 run homer to tie the game in the 3rd, a solo shot to take the lead in the 7th, and a 2 run dinger to start up the scoring in the 8th. A nod to Julian Tavarez, who followed up his last horrible relief appearance with 3 perfect innings and the win!

Designated hitter Manny Ramirez slammed 3 homeruns and had 6 RBI and Julian
Tavarez delivered 3 solid innings as the Boston Red Sox defeated the pathetic
Baltimore Orioles by a score of 13 to 4 at Fenway Park.

Ramirez was spectacular at the plate. The hometown fans showed their
appreciation with a standing ovation his last time at bat. He lofted a
three-run 'big-fly' in the 3rd inning, ripped a solo home run in the 7th
inning and blasted a two-run home run (his 35th of the season) in the 8th
inning. Boston ended up with 16 hits for the game while Baltimore had 6.

The win went to Tavarez(3-1) who allowed no runs in 3 innings. Todd
Williams(2-4) was the losing pitcher in relief. 'Some days it just all comes
together, and this was one of them' Ramirez said. 'I've been seeing the ball
pretty well lately.'
