July 8, 2006: Padres 6 Nationals 4

The Padres snap the Nationals 4 game winning streak with a 6-4 victory. The Padres got ahead early in this one, scoring 5 runs in the first off Nats starter Pedro Astacio. Sadly, 5 runs over 7 innings actually LOWERED Astacio's ERA. Astacio pitched well in innings 2 through 7, so maybe there is some hope for him yet.

The Nats staged a comeback in the 8th when Nick Johnson greeted closer Trevor Hoffman with a 3-run dinger, but 4 runs is all they could manage and they went down quietly in the 9th.
