July 7, 2006: Nationals 5 Padres 1

The Nationals win their 4th straight game, this time in game 1 of a series hosting the NL West leading San Diego Padres. The Nats held a slim 1-0 lead for most of the game until the Padres tied it in the top of the 7th, but the Nats quickly responded with 4 runs in the bottom of the same inning.

The current Nats winning streak is the first time the Nats have won more than 2 games in a row since a 5 game winning streak in early May. The Nationals also climb out of the NL East cellar thanks to the Mets' victory over the Marlins.
