July 16, 2006: Red Sox 10 A's 4

The Red Sox averaged 2 runs per game in the first 3 games of this 4 game series with the A's, scoring as many runs in the game they lost (3) as they did combined in the 2 games they won (1-0, 2-1). However in this one it was all offense as the Sox put up 10 runs on the way to the 10-4 victory. The party started early, as A's starter walked the first 2 Sox batters and then allowed a 3-run homer to Big Papi, his 23rd of the year. Manny followed that with a double and would go on to score, as the Sox get 4 and bat around in the 1st. The A's come right back with 3 in the top of the 2nd with 4 hits and a walk off Kyle Snyder, but the Sox strike again in the bottom of the 3rd with a Mike Lowell homer, a Varitek single, and successive doubles from Loretta and Gonzalez to chase Blanton from the game. The Sox add 3 more in the 4th and cruise from there on out.

Snyder allows just the 3 runs, but only makes it through 5 before he gets high in the pitch count. Tavarez, Lopez, and Delcarmen combine to hold it down. Manny Ramirez and Mark Loretta both go 3 for 4, with 5 doubles between them (3 for Manny).
