July 15, 2006: Red Sox 2 A's 1
Monday, July 09, 2007
| This one was shaping up to be another combined 1-0 shutout by the Sox, just like the game 2 games prior. However, Mike Timlin was not as sharp as he was in that game and hit a batter, followed by a single and a Milton Bradley RBI double that just got past Coco Crisp in center field. Coco got them right back by hitting his own double to center to open the Red Sox half of the 8th, advancing to third on an Ortiz ground out, and scoring when A's starter Dan Haren threw a wild pitch. Papelbon comes in and handily gets his 19th save. It's unfortunate that Schilling couldn't get the win, since he pitched tremendously. As Timlin's 7-0 record indicates, he's been a win burglar on more than one occasion this season (blow the lead, but get the win). |
