June 24, 2006: Phillies 13 Red Sox 4
Saturday, June 02, 2007
| The Red Sox suffer an embarassing rout at the hands of the Phillies. Curt Schilling never got it going in this game, and was gone before the 2nd inning ended. The Phillies hit 5 home runs on the day. This game was even more embarassing than it looks in the box score - Brett Myers had a no-hitter going into the 7h inning. He led off the inning with 2 strikeouts, but then walked Manny and Trot Nixon before Mike Lowell broke up the no-hitter (and the shutout) with a double. Myers was pulled, but Jason Varitek was next up and hit a triple to push 2 more runners across. So Myers ends up with 3 runs allowed on just one hit. |

First baseman Ryan Howard homered and had 4 RBI and Brett Myers took a
no-hitter into the 7th inning at Fenway Park where the Philadelphia Phillies
beat the Boston Red Sox by the score of 13 to 4.
Howard provided much of the offense. He belted a three-run homer (his 30th of
the season) in the 1st inning and doubled which scored a run in the 2nd
inning. For the game Philadelphia out-hit Boston 16 to 6.
Myers(8-4) got the win allowing 3 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings. The right-handed
Myers had his no-hit bid broken up by Mike Lowell who doubled with two outs
in the 7th inning. The loss was charged to Curt Schilling(7-7). He served
up 3 homeruns in his 1 and 1/3 innings.
Myers was pleased with his performance. He noted, 'I had good command of all
my pitches. Just as important, my location was right on.'
