June 21, 2006: Red Sox 16 Nationals 6

This one was most decidedly NOT a pitchers duel, as the Red Sox offense wakes up and slaughters the Nationals pitching staff to salvage the third game of the series. This game was going ok for Shawn Hill and the Nationals early, with the Red Sox getting a couple runs but then the Nats struck back with 3 runs to take the lead in the top of the 4th behind Matt LeCroy's 2 run homer. The Red Sox struck right back though with 3 in the bottom of the 4th and never looked back, scoring 2 in the 5th, 3 in the 6th, and 6 in the 7th en route to the big win.

This is the first career win for Jon Lester, whose 4 earned runs in 6 IP is decent considering his horrendous first 2 starts. An interesting note: there were 5 homers in the game, and all 5 were 2 run shots.

Left fielder Manny Ramirez slammed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Fenway Park as
the Boston Red Sox belted the Washington Nationals by the count of 16 to
6.

Ramirez had a good evening at the plate. He blasted a two-run home run in the
6th inning and bombed a two-run dinger (his 22nd of the season) in the 7th
inning. Boston provided plenty of action in the 7th inning which saw them
plate 6 runs on 5 hits. Boston had many opportunities throughout the game
and scored in 6 separate innings.

The victory was credited to Jon Lester(1-2) who went 6 innings, allowing 4
runs. Shawn Hill(0-3) was charged with the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 9
hits and 2 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.
