June 13, 2006: Twins 2 Red Sox 0

Curt Schilling comes up on the short end of a hell of a pitcher's duel with Johan Santana. Both pictures had their stuff on display as evidenced by the 21 total strikeouts between them (10 in 7 IP for Schilling, 11 in 8 IP for Santana). The Twins get 2 runs early and Santana throws a shutout along with Joe Nathan who pitched the 9th for his 24th save.

Johan Santana mowed down 11 Boston batters as the Minnesota Twins topped the
Boston Red Sox by a score of 2 to 0 at Metrodome.

Santana(8-3) gave Minnesota a solid outing. He surrendered only 6 hits and 1
walk in 8 innings seeing his ERA drop from 3.15 to 2.90. After the 3rd
inning, neither team was able to score.

Joe Nathan gained credit for his 24th save. Curt Schilling(6-6) was the
loser. Despite the loss, he struckout 10 Minnesota batters in 7 innings.

When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Santana offered, 'The fan's
really got into it. It is fun to see them tally up the strikeout totals up
there in the stands. Fortunately, I kept them busy tonight - of course, it
would be all for naught without the 'W'.'
