April 5, 2006: Rangers 8 Red Sox 4
Tuesday, March 13, 2007
| One problem with Josh Beckett's 2006 season with the Red Sox was that he gave up home runs at an alarming rate, a rate much higher than his previous career with the Marlins. His 2006 SOM Red Sox debut shows that same problem, as he gives up 4 home runs in an 8-4 loss to the Rangers. Beckett gave up 2 home runs and 3 runs in the 1st inning and then gave up 3 more runs in the 2nd, but it looked like he had settled through the 3rd and 4th while the Red Sox drew back to within 2 runs behind homers of their own from Big Papi and Manny. Then Beckett promptly gave up 2 more home runs back to back to Mark Teixiera and Phil Nevin to start the 5th. I pulled him at this point, but the damage was done and the Sox failed to score again in the game. JT Snow, Julian Tavarez, and David Riske make their Red Sox debuts in this game. |

Brad Wilkerson blasted a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Texas Rangers defeated
the Boston Red Sox 8 to 4 at Ameriquest Field.
It was a good day for Texas thanks to Wilkerson. He cracked a solo homerun
(his 1st of the season) in the 1st inning, doubled plating two runs in the
2nd inning and doubled in the 6th inning. Texas had 12 hits overall, while
Boston had 9.
Kameron Loe(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and allowing 4
runs. The loss was charged to Josh Beckett(0-1). He served up 4 gopher balls
in 4 innings.
