April 4, 2006: Red Sox 6 Rangers 1
Tuesday, March 13, 2007
| The Red Sox get their first win of the season behind Tim Wakefield's mound dominance. Wakefield didn't allow a hit until the 6th inning and allowed just 2 hits over his 8 innings of work. Keith Foulke came in for the 9th and ruined the shutout, but preserved the win. The Sox bats were once again active in this one, as they reach double digits in hits and get 6 runs on 2 big home runs by newcomers - a 2-run shot by Covelli "Coco" Crisp in the 3rd, and a grand slam by Mike Lowell in the 8th. |

Tim Wakefield carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning at Ameriquest Field as
the Boston Red Sox beat the Texas Rangers 6 to 1.
Wakefield(1-0) was simply too much for the Texas batters. He was stingy on
the mound, allowing just 2 hits and no walks in 8 innings. The right-handed
Wakefield had his no-hit bid broken up by Rod Barajas who singled with one
out in the 6th inning. Boston had 10 hits overall, while Texas had 4.
Vicente Padilla(0-1) was the losing pitcher. He gave up 2 runs and 4 hits in
6 innings.
