| Tony Armas has an 0.60 ERA and an 0-2 record. Why? because the Nationals don't bother scoring runs when he starts. His first outing was a 1-0 loss at the hands of Brandon Backe and the Astros, and this time it's Pedro and the Mets who shut out the Nationals. Armas allows one run through 8. |

David Wright had 2 base hits and Pedro Martinez delivered 8 solid innings at
RFK STADIUM where the New York (NL) Mets beat the Washington Nationals by the
score of 3 to 0.
New York (NL) went ahead for good in the 4th inning plating an isolated run.
After an out was recorded, Carlos Delgado single-handedly provided the
offense with a solo home run (his 2nd of the season). The Washington offense
proved no trouble in the bottom of the 9th.
The victory went to Martinez(1-0) who went 8 innings, allowing no runs. Billy
Wagner got the save, his 2nd. Tony Armas Jr(0-2) ended up with the loss. He
allowed just 1 run and 4 hits in 8 innings.
